Vulture Festival came to Los Angeles in 2017. Since then, West Coast fans of the cult-favourite publication have been given many special moments with some of their favourite entertainers. The festival centres on bringing Vulture to fans beyond its digital platform, hosting an incredible in-person and immersive experience. This year was no exception.
Perhaps one of the most impressive parts of the 2024 Vulture Festival is the variety of talent the publication hosted – from comedians to chefs, to a-list actresses, there was truly a panel for any fan of the entertainment industry. The two-day festival began with a “Pajama-Party brunch” panel on the hit show The Sex Lives of College Girls, which included Justin Noble (co-creator), Alyah Chanelle Scott (Whitney), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Lila), Renika Williams (Willow), and Pauline Chalamet (Kimberly) who joined virtually. Season three of the show premiered on November 21st, and the cast gave many peeks into how the season will unfold – new characters, saying goodbye to Reneé Rapp’s character, and even a screening of episode 301. And yes, perhaps my favourite thing about this panel was the fact that the cast did indeed WEAR pyjamas – what better to talk about a show focused on college kids than starting off a Saturday in them?
As I mentioned, I was particularly impressed with the diverse resume of events that Vulture hosted. Hollywood Legend Mike Myers spoke about his career (though gave no Shrek 5 teasers!), Top Chef favourite Padma Lakshmi and Comedian Joel Kim Booster did a “cooking and eating demonstration,” and Henry Winkler gave an acting class – as just some of the highlights. Oh, and besties Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were the finale to the weekend, where they celebrated their new show Paris & Nicole: The Encore, and reflected on their very viral, very iconic, very HOT friendship. I’d also like to note – that I particularly appreciated the price point of Vulture’s events – many of them being completely free to individuals who wished to attend or under $50. So, applause for Vulture for hosting incredibly interesting panels AND making them affordable to fans.
As a Fashionphile, I would be remiss to not write about some of my favourite looks from the weekend. I particularly loved Elizabeth Olsen’s look for her solo feature “Elizabeth Olsen in Conversation,” where she spoke about her career and new film His Three Daughters. She wore a gorgeous polka dot mini dress by Alessandra Rich complete with a lace collar and bright gold buttons, with chunky Chanel loafers that gave a retro, chic aesthetic. I thought the outfit was a wonderful pairing to her very honest, very reflective session. I also loved Quinta Brunson’s look to accept Vulture’s first-ever “Roomy Award” alongside her fellow Abbott Elementary writers, an award focusing on the teamwork and achievements of successful writer’s rooms. She wore a micro asymmetrical Fendi dress that had waist detailing which mirrored folded-over suit pants. I loved how the dress felt slightly deconstructed, very modern, and of course, gave a boss-woman feel.
In conclusion, I felt as though Vulture Fest was pretty FAULTless. Congratulations on yet another successful year!
