The Princess Of Wales Wears Autumn’s Uniform Suiting Trend – Here’s How To Make It Work For You Now
There was once a time where the Princess of Wales’ wardrobe was filled with mid-length dresses and those nude heels. Today (quite literally, on September 11 2025), her signature has evolved to centre around tailored suits instead.
Stepping out in Sudbury, Suffolk, Catherine once again chose a two-piece confirming it as her preferred option for working appearances. Consider it her uniform. The concept of establishing a capsule wardrobe or a uniform of sorts is a useful idea for anyone. Streamlining in such a fashion cuts out the sartorial noise to make getting dressed (especially with the immaculate finish life in the public eye demands) an easier proposition.

The Princess also kept the suit’s styling simple. She chose to wear a round-neck sweater and black suede heeled pumps that matched the leather belt fastened at her waist.
While the suit speaks to Catherine’s professional preference for classic tailoring, it also speaks to a seasonal shift in colour palette that was felt on the AW25 catwalks. Grey tailoring became a popular shade for designers, including many of Catherine’s personal favourites including Sarah Burton at Givenchy and Victoria Beckham.
The shade is a fashion-favourite for a reason. Less severe than black, perhaps less directional than brown and certainly more understated than colour-pop greens or blues (as Kate has worn in the past), it has an ease to it that makes it a wearable choice, especially during the start of the season where we find ourselves in now. It also pairs as well with black as it does with chartreuse or baby pink perhaps.
Catherine’s look for the visit to Sidbury Mills also spoke to another trend that’s permeating now: finding your niche and sticking to it. Homogeny is over, as the trend for expressing your individuality breaks through instead. So, for as much there’s a clear temptation to copy Kate’s tailored approach, consider finding a uniform that’s much more yourself for the season ahead. It even be those mid-length dresses she has done away with and that’s alright.
