Jackson Hole Recycles Old Staff Uniforms Into New Swag
Really cool new products from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort utilizing old staff uniforms upcycled into a variety of sharp looking swag. JHMR has partnered with ReFleece who specializes in turning “used-up” outdoor performance wear into well engineered and built to last products.
All of Jackson Hole’s uniforms are made by Mammut, so the new line of products will be crafted entirely from garments by the Swiss company. Products include bucket hats, bags, blankets and pillows. The new items will be available for sale at Jackson Hole Sports, Teton Village Sports, the Resort Store, and online at JHMR’s new online gear store which will launch this winter.
The new upcycled offerings will be available in person and online coinciding with their November 29th opening day. Really cool stuff, glad to see their salvaged uniforms given a new life and avoiding the landfill.
PRESS RELEASE:
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced today that it is partnering with leading design and manufacturing company ReFleece to repurpose old staff uniforms and apparel into a line of new retail products. The upcycled products will be available in person and online beginning Nov. 29, the first day of the new winter season.
The partnership is the latest in a series of sustainability projects implemented by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which is committed to reducing its environmental impact through energy efficiency, waste reduction, natural habitat conservation and restoration, and other initiatives.
Based in Massachusetts and committed to reusing and upcycling used outdoor performance wear, ReFleece began working with JHMR earlier this year to remake the Resort’s used staff apparel into new items such as tote bags, zip pouches, throw blankets, pillows, holiday stockings, and wine totes that all boast the iconic Jackson Hole Mountain Resort logo. ReFleece’s unique “end of life” process leverages the embedded value of the original gear by simply cutting and sewing the materials into new items, avoiding the environmental impact of high-energy recycling or re-dying.
The new items will be available at Jackson Hole Sports, Teton Village Sports, and the Resort Store, located on the Town Square. They will also be available online at JHMR’s new online gear store, launching this winter.
“We are so excited to have found a purpose for our old uniforms as part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our impact on the environment. We can’t wait to share the new ReFleece products with all of our guests this winter.” –Andrew Way, JHMR Chief Marketing Officer
All of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s uniforms are designed and manufactured by the Swiss mountaineering and trekking gear company Mammut. ReFleece has worked with a variety of leading outdoor apparel brands to divert used items from the waste stream, conserve resources, and reduce some of the 13 million tons of American textile waste that ends up in landfills every year.
“ReFleece is thrilled to be working with JHMR in converting its old ski instructor, ski patrol, lift attendant, and general uniforms into new upcycled products, from tote bags and pouches to blankets. Each piece is unique. The fabric in these products is cut directly from the old JHMR uniforms, so you may find seams, color variations, and textures that tell the story of a great first life on the slopes of JHMR.” –Sam Palmer, ReFleece Founder
