Fashion show raises money, awareness for mental health services in Maine

The stars were out on Saturday night as models hit the runway in Old Orchard Beach for a great cause. Maine’s Total Coverage hosted Spring into Hope: Maine Fashion Show at Dunegrass Country Club. All proceeds from the event benefit mental health support in Maine and was emceed by WMTW anchors Meghan Torjussen and Jon Chrisos. Justin Chenette, spokesperson for Sweetser, spoke with Maine’s Total Coverage before the event on Saturday. “We’re all coming together for such an important cause. Reducing the stigma attached to seeking mental health support. You know, we can all struggle sometimes, and I think when we all come together to support one another, I think that’s what Mainers are all about,” Chenette said.The event included:Runway showMusic by DJ Brandon AullChef-curated appetizers and drinksRaffle itemsFun photo booth Sweetser provides on average $1 million each year in care to individuals and families in need of mental health services who don’t have the ability to cover the cost of that treatment. “No one should be turned away. Every Maine family, every child, every individual deserves access to mental health care,” said Chenette. “The last thing families should have to think about when it comes to addressing their own mental health challenges or the mental health needs of their children, is the cost of care being a barrier. The focus should be on healing and recovery.
