Meghan Markle’s Uniform Is All About Effortlessly Chic Separates

Duchess Meghan knows a thing or two about looking chic and put together on the clock. The Duchess of Sussex tends to stick to a tried-and-true outfit formula when it comes to getting dressed for work, usually reaching for a pair of wide-leg pants, a tailored top, and classic pumps. For her latest outing, she reworked this sartorial blueprint for a cozy fall twist.

This past weekend, Meghan hosted a dinner in Venice Beach for women’s empowerment organization Mina’s List and the Southern California chapter of the Archewell Foundation’s Welcome Project. Meghan and Prince Harry launched the Welcome Project in 2023 as a way to help build community for recently resettled Afghan women, a mission that was driven by Meghan’s earlier work with the Hubb Community Kitchen in London.

For the intimate occasion, Meghan went monochrome in a sandy, all-beige outfit. This consisted of a speckled sleeveless knit turtleneck, which she tucked into a pair of pleated wide-leg pants, with a belt attached to the high waist. Meghan rounded out her look with her go-to assortment of understatedly luxurious jewelry, from bedazzled stud earrings to a stack of bracelets—the latter of which included her favorite Cartier Love bracelet.

“From my standpoint, I think part of why we wanted to make sure we had this opportunity to all be together again—so many of us—right now is that as the holidays come up, and have already begun in many regards, it brings up so much emotion for people,” Meghan said during the dinner, per Marie Claire. “You miss home, miss your country, and also can find comfort in the new community that you have here. I’m grateful that we are able to be a part of that community.”

Besides hosting the event, Meghan also joined the group in the kitchen, taking part in cooking traditional Afghan food.

“You find comfort in things you know, but you find so much community and connection in things you don’t know as well,” Meghan told the magazine. She extolled the resiliency of the women at the event, adding, “For so many of them it would be very easy to go, ‘My life has ended, because everything I knew that I was familiar with is gone. … But these moments of togetherness that they have with each other and the Welcome Project, I hope, reminds them that no, your life is just beginning. It’s a very, very different chapter. It’s the beginning of something where you’ve taken steps that you never thought you would.”
