We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented Art Director to join our Marketing team on a 12-month parental leave cover contract, commencing in June.
The Art Director is primarily responsible for driving and executing the artistic vision and aesthetic direction of Viktoria & Woods’ visual communications across the business. Through extensive collaboration, this role focuses on effectively translating the Viktoria & Woods brand into compelling, engaging and commercially successful visual campaigns that maintain and elevate the brand’s image in the competitive fashion landscape.
- Design and develop the creative conceptualisation process in close consultation with the Founder & Creative Director and Design Director.
- Develop the conceptual creative direction and visual messages for all new collections, ensuring the unique Viktoria & Woods brand experience. Develop a brief in collaboration with the Founder & Creative Director and Design Director.
- Collaborate and consult with key stakeholders including the Brand & Content Manager, Digital Marketing & eCommerce Manager and broader Marketing team to design and develop creative and visual concepts and briefs (including mood boards, copy, colours, images, graphics etc.) that will span across print, digital, social media and retail environments.
- Create the Visual Merchandising (VM) style guidelines as an extension of the brand guidelines to develop the VM story for in-store displays for the season.
- Develop and monitor the ‘Viktoria & Woods Brand Guidelines’ – i.e. the brand direction, visual and styling guidelines and suitable images to champion a unified brand understanding.
- Manage the design brief process from end-to-end for all design brief requests.
- Develop and manage the creative direction and execution for all photo shoots.
- Manage and maintain an ‘image library’.
- Develop creative strategies for key projects that arise throughout the year.
- Manage relationships with external design agencies (retouching work and graphic design).
- Lead, coach and develop direct reports, including Senior Brand Designer, Graphic Design & Creative Assistant and VM Coordinator.
KEY SKILLS
- Proven experience in Art Direction or equivalent role, within the Fashion industry or similar.
- Exceptional creativity and creative vision.
- Extensive creative design experience and experience tracking and identifying global trends.
- Strong understanding of visual brand management and ability to develop brand guidelines.
- High degree of knowledge of marketing, brand and design principles and development.
- Strong understanding of commercial realities in creative design.
- Solid knowledge of photography and video production.
- Strong knowledge of web development.
- Highly skilled in using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Relevant qualification in fine art, graphic design, or a similar discipline.
- Experience leading a small team would be desirable.
