The PR and Communications Manager is responsible for implementing the Dolce & Gabbana public relations and communication strategy for Australia, ensuring cohesive and impactful brand messaging across all media channels while strengthening relationships with key media outlets, key industry figures and internal stakeholders. The role oversees press relations and media placements across women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, with additional categories to follow.

Additionally, the PR & Communications Manager also manages media partnerships, coordinates press events and product launches internally and externally and collaborates with global and regional teams to align local strategies with the brand’s overarching communication objectives. This role also involves external and internal Head Office brand communications, monitoring media coverage and leveraging digital and social media platforms to enhance brand visibility and reputation.

  • Be responsible for annual PR planning, covering both global requirements and local market needs.
  • Build on existing and develop new relationships with key press publications across long-lead and short-lead, mainstream media, trade, online and blogs in order to maximise media lineage opportunities.
  • Work with Head Office Line Managers to identify appropriate industry figures as part of the brand community strategy and develop long-term relationships.
  • Ensure editorial development and ranking of DMR and media value.
  • Work closely with Head Office Managers to support and execute seasonal press days.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of all internal communications strategies, tools and systems to ensure alignment with overall brand messaging.
  • Drive internal and external communications with sensitivity and fully aligned with brand image.
  • Keep abreast of competitor activities and market insights.
  • Manage PR agencies effectively and seamlessly for all related activities and activations.
  • Assist with any high profile eventing and associated activities as required.
  • Manager and execute daily press requests including photoshoots, product loans and brand information.
  • Monitor all incoming and outgoing sample requests across key media outlets to ensure the strongest and most qualitative editorial coverage.
  • Fulfill samples requests for media, stylists and product placement.
  • Organisation and responsibility of press sample ordering.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to maintain the press room and press samples in an organised way.
  • Support Line Managers and HQ Italy to establish media plans according to global guidelines and local needs.
  • Develop and ensure excellent relationships with targeted media (sales and editorial) outlets, maximising opportunities for media coverage.
  • Support Line Managers to prepare local media landscape/insights for HQ reference.
  • Provide HQ advertising MR requests and share post buy reporting.
  • Provide any associated reporting as required by HQ Italy.

 

KEY SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years PR/Communications relevant experience, preferably in the luxury retail sector.
  • Tertiary degree in Marketing, PR and Communications or related discipline.
  • Proficient experience in PR and media relations and managing press relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to craft compelling communications that are aligned with global and regional communication objectives.
  • Strong content writing and editorial skills for press releases, media kits, speeches and brand storytelling.
  • Event planning & execution expertise, organising seamless media and client events, product launches, press previews and activations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive PR issues and protect brand image at all times.
  • Experience collaborating with brand ambassadors and key industry figures.
  • Understanding of digital PR strategies, including partnerships with online media, bloggers and social platforms.
  • Ability to plan and execute PR campaigns within budget while tracking ROI and performance metrics.
  • Collaboration & cross-functional coordination working seamlessly with internal teams and global HQ, to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Market awareness & trend analysis – knowledge of luxury fashion, jewellery and accessories markets, with the ability to leverage industry trends in PR strategies.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills with the ability to foster connections with internal and external industry stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of the role, including brand messaging and media representation that aligns with luxury standards.
  • Resilience and adaptability, ability to navigate a fast-paced luxury environment and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of how PR strategies contribute to brand commercial success.
  • Immaculate professional presentation.
  • Strong command of Office 365 Suite and social media navigation proficiency.
  • Excellence team player with cultural awareness.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Italian Language is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic and creative self-starter, proactive and reliable.
  • Highest standards of trust, integrity and confidentiality.
