GORUCK, Official Apparel and Footwear Provider of CrossFit and the CrossFit Games, Unveils 2024 Uniforms at Athlete Check-In

GORUCK, the leader of the rucking revolution and maker of the most durable products on planet Earth, today unveiled the uniforms for the 2024 CrossFit Games, which will be held August 8-11 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

In an effort to give nod to the brand’s military roots and strong community, GORUCK’s decision to unveil the uniforms at athlete check-n was drawn from the desire to bring a brand to life that has been otherwise unknown to CrossFit and CrossFit Games athletes. This year’s uniform design draws inspiration from the military, a shared commonality in the roots between GORUCK and CrossFit, featuring a stencil wordmark font, marking the first time that CrossFit has allowed an apparel partner to produce uniforms with a different marking.

GORUCK’s customizations department, SCARS, will be inside the athlete check-in sewing individual country flags on the jersey each Athlete will be wearing for the Opening Ceremonies.

“We’re honored to unveil our first-ever CrossFit Games uniforms, with the designs paying homage to our brand’s deep military roots, something we share with CrossFit,” said GORUCK Co-Founder and CEO, Jason McCarthy. “Patriotism and civic pride is something that we hold near and dear to us. Each athlete can represent their country on the competition floor, while also providing them with a reminder of the journey to get to this stage and the community back home that is supporting each of them.”

When competitors enter the space, they will be met with a starkly different aesthetic from check-ins of years past, transforming the athlete’s entry for the week of the CrossFit Games into a unique experience. Within the athlete check-in area will be a wall featuring images of the over 200 servicemembers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country who were active members of the CrossFit community and who are recognized through CrossFit’s Hero WODs. Throughout the two days, the wall will become adorned with the signatures of everyone who plays a part in making the CrossFit Games happen – from the athletes to the GORUCK staff, CrossFit staff, Dickies Arena workers, and more.

“We were determined to make the athlete check-in something truly memorable for the athletes, and make a statement to CrossFit that we are a unique brand that does things to the beat of our own drum,” said McCarthy. “Community is something that is a tenet at GORUCK, and by introducing the community wall at athlete check-in, it’s our symbolic way of honoring, celebrating, and blending our communities within GORUCK and CrossFit together.”

DESIGNED TO BEAT THE HEAT

This year’s uniforms will feature ToughMesh, an exclusive material from GORUCK. ToughMesh features small perforations in the fabric, providing maximum breathability while still delivering a UPF rating of 35 which blocks out 97% of UV radiation from the sun. Weighing just 100GSM (grams per square meter), the ToughMesh material weighs 30-40% less than normal performance fabrics (Cotton/poly tri-blend weighs in at 145 GSM and other performance shirts at 170-190 GSM), the athletes will barely notice its presence as they work up a sweat, while other materials would quickly absorb the liquid and further weigh them down.

The ToughMesh material is reinforced with nylon, giving the uniforms added durability regardless of the event that stands in front of the athletes.

On the footwear side, new, CrossFit exclusive colorways of the Ballistic Trainers and Rough Runners will make their debut on the competition floor at the Games. The Ballistic Trainer is designed with heel stabilization in mind for dynamic, load-bearing exercises, a wide, breathable toe box to reduce friction, and an 8mm heel-to-toe drop creates the best biomechanical advantage for lifting or running. The Rough Runner is an ultra-supportive running shoe designed to not waver over time. The Rough Runner’s unique midsole is designed with gradient density, meaning it has more bounce under the balls of your feet and gradually becomes more stable towards your heel. With other running shoes, the midsole starts to soften and lose stability with time – not the Rough Runner. Additional features include a 10mm heel-to-toe drop to allow for ideal balance between a running stride and gait, reducing strain on the Achilles and supporting the heel strike, as well as a 3D molded heel lock to prevent slippage and excessive movement around the ankle, allowing you to secure the heel into the shoe without relying on lace locking or lacing too tightly.

GORUCK’s footwear line was developed by industry veteran Paul Litchfield, who led the development and launch of the iconic Pump and Nano lines from Reebok.

Earlier this year, GORUCK was named the Official Apparel and Footwear Provider of CrossFit and the CrossFit Games, and recently announced the signing of six-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey as the brand’s newest ambassador.

GORUCK’s exclusive 2024 CrossFit Games apparel and merchandise will be available on-site at the CrossFit Games, as well as in the brand’s pop-up retail location in the Fort Worth Stockyards at Tannahill’s Tavern and Music Hall, and online at

About GORUCK

Founded in 2008 by former Green Beret, Jason McCarthy, GORUCK is headquartered in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Jason’s commitment to the Special Forces way of life, coupled with what he had learned in war, inspired him to build a “go-bag”, or “go-ruck” for his wife and co-founder, Emily, who was a Case Officer in the CIA working in French-speaking West Africa. The bag was meant for her to keep in her vehicle and at home, ready to go at all times.

This “go-bag” would serve as the catalyst for what eventually became GORUCK’s original piece of gear, the GR1. It took over two years to design and manufacture the rucksacks and ensure they would thrive in both Baghdad and NYC — Green Berets were judge and jury of quality and functionality.

GORUCK prides itself on building the toughest rucking & workout gear on the planet backed by our SCARS Lifetime Guarantee, offering rucksacks, footwear, apparel, ruck plates, training gear, and more. The company builds every style from the ground up and continues to work with Special Forces soldiers, male and female CrossFit® Games Champions, and World Champion Athletes to test, iterate, and build the best.
