ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) has unveiled its new Distinctly Delta uniform collection — a reimagined design that symbolizes the airline’s heritage, pride, and evolving identity.
Crafted by Lands’ End and shaped by the feedback of 65,000 employees across Airport Customer Service, In-Flight, and Technical Operations, this collection reflects Delta’s vision for its next century of flight.
Delta New Uniform Collection
The Distinctly Delta collection goes beyond appearance; it represents Delta’s ongoing transformation into a premium global airline. Designed with intention and purpose, each piece embodies the professionalism and passion of Delta’s people — from the tarmac to the skies.
Ranjan Goswami, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design, described the launch as “a new era for Delta,” emphasizing how the collection honors the airline’s legacy while introducing timeless, elevated design for the future.
There’s no better manifestation of the Delta brand than the Delta people who wear our uniform.
Launching this collection represents a new era for Delta as we honor the past while designing a premium and timeless collection that leads us into our next 100 years.”
Ranjan Goswami, S.V.P. of Customer Experience Design
Every garment was engineered for performance under real-world conditions — from ground staff working in extreme weather to flight attendants navigating multiple climates in a single shift. The collection prioritizes comfort, durability, and safety, with each piece meeting STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certification for fabric excellence.
Designed for Purpose, Built to Perform
Delta’s commitment to its people guided every design decision. Practicality meets sophistication through thoughtful details — optimized pocket placement, moisture-resistant fabrics, and refined tailoring that accommodates the demands of constant travel.
Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Managing Director of Uniform and Onboard Brand Experience, noted that the uniform “is a symbol of who we are.” Each employee wearing it reflects Delta’s core values of service, integrity, and innovation.
The Distinctly Delta uniform includes four main collections that serve the airline’s diverse teams, uniting them under one cohesive visual identity for the first time in its history.
Signature Colors and Timeless Design
The collection revives Delta’s signature color palette with aviation-inspired shades: Navigator Navy, Boarding Burgundy, and Runway Red — all referencing the airline’s iconic tail and Widget. A new Powerful Pink joins the lineup, representing Delta’s two-decade partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and worn each October to support awareness.
Among the highlights is the return of Delta’s beloved wrap dress, first introduced in the early 2000s and revived due to strong employee demand. Its modern redesign retains the timeless elegance that once made it a symbol of Delta style.
The Elite Collection and Global Collaborations
The Elite Collection distinguishes leadership and service roles such as Red Coats, Pursers, and Sky Club Ambassadors with subtle jacquard patterns woven with the Delta Widget. It marks the first time these roles share a unified collection, visually reinforcing Delta’s premium brand experience.
Delta also partnered with Missoni, the Italian fashion house, to create elegant accessories — scarves, ties, and pocket squares — blending Missoni’s signature craftsmanship with Delta’s sleek aesthetic.
In addition, Bombas joins the collaboration, supplying specially branded socks designed for comfort and endurance, made for employees both above and below the wing.
Honoring a Century, Looking Ahead
Unveiled in Delta’s centennial year, the Distinctly Delta collection is as much about the future as it is about legacy. The airline will enter its wear-testing phase in summer 2026, with a full rollout planned for 2027.
As Dimbiloglu noted, “We’re not just dressing for today. We’re dressing for the Delta we are becoming.” This sentiment captures the essence of Distinctly Delta — a blend of purpose, pride, and progress designed to carry the airline into its next hundred years.
How do they design it?
Delta Air Lines (DL) has unveiled a new chapter in its uniform journey, reflecting years of research, design, and employee input.
The project aims to serve over 65,000 team members — from Airport Customer Service to In-Flight and Technical Operations — with performance-driven apparel that balances function, comfort, and brand identity.
Led by Delta’s Uniform and Onboard Brand Experience team, the airline is redefining what professional wear means for aviation employees. The result is a carefully engineered collection designed to meet real-world demands while honoring Delta’s heritage through its iconic red and navy palette.
From Fabric to Function: Inside Delta’s Design Process
Designing for tens of thousands of employees across diverse roles is more than a creative challenge — it’s an operational mission. According to Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Managing Director of Uniform and Onboard Brand Experience, “We’re not designing for a few. We’re designing for more than 65,000 uniformed employees. That means every age, every size, every skin tone — and our uniforms need to reflect that.”
The design team started with Delta’s guiding principle: listen, act, listen. Through extensive surveys, focus groups, job shadowing, and wear tests, employee feedback shaped every decision. Workers asked for breathable fabrics, improved fit, and flexibility in garment choices. In response, Delta created a collection that merges comfort, function, and personal expression.
Color and material selection were among the most complex steps. Each OEKO-TEX approved fabric roll underwent months of testing for texture, stretch, and color consistency.
“We spent hours in the color room,” said Delta Design Lead Thomas Vasseur. “Every shade had to be tested under aircraft lighting, airport lighting, and natural light. Burgundy isn’t just burgundy — it must hold its tone across jackets, sweaters, and scarves.”
Performance Wear for “Industrial Athletes”
Delta’s frontline teams are constantly in motion — from technicians and gate agents to flight attendants. Dimbiloglu describes them as “industrial athletes,” whose uniforms must perform as reliably as their aircraft.
Every garment in the new collection is built with flexibility, reinforced seams, and breathable linings. The design team incorporated insights from job shadowing and wear testing, leading to tangible improvements such as new pocket placements, stronger stitching, and ergonomic tailoring.
Vasseur emphasized that functionality drove every decision: “Even the blazer lining is perforated for breathability you feel but don’t see. Every detail was made with frontline wearability in mind.”
Subtle Branding, Strong Identity
Beyond performance, Delta wanted its uniforms to convey pride and unity. The signature Delta Widget — a timeless emblem of the brand — appears in understated yet recognizable ways: zipper pulls, jacquard patterns, and coordinated accessories. Metal finishes match employee wings and name bars, creating a cohesive look across all divisions.
The design also pays homage to previous collections, blending legacy elements into a unified, contemporary style. “Distinctly Delta is not about one item, or one division,” Vasseur explained. “This is about unity, elegance, and the pride we hold in representing Delta and serving our customers.”
A Living Design: What Comes Next
The rollout of Delta’s new uniforms marks the start of another feedback cycle. Beginning in 2026, the airline will launch an extensive wear test program across departments to evaluate fit, function, and durability in day-to-day operations.
“We’ll be gathering feedback on fit, function, and feel — what works, what doesn’t, and what can be done better,” said Dimbiloglu. “This isn’t a one-and-done moment. It’s a living, breathing collaboration with our people.”
