5 fall fashion trends to watch for | Culture

The weather is starting to get colder and leaves are falling. Autumn is upon us and the fashion trends aren’t far behind. What will make it in the fall trends? Will it be animal print, brown boots, flannel skirts or cardigans?

The first day of fall was Sept. 22. With the changing of seasons, new trends tend to take on campus as the weather gets cooler. These are trends I believe will take over this fall.

Animal print, specifically tortoise shell

All kinds of animal prints have been taking over the fashion industry. From the classic leopard print to cow print, I think I’ve seen it all.

One print that specifically has started to stand out is the tortoise shell print. This is a marble-like print that’s usually black and brown.

I’ve seen this print start popping up on nail designs, sunglasses and headbands. I think it will go even further, from dresses to shoes.

I’m a sucker for leopard print, and I don’t think it’s leaving us this season. Any piece of clothing makes a classic statement piece. I have a leopard print dress, shoes, shirts, skirts and even bags.

Leopard print this fall can be seen in sweaters or pants, offering a warm, fashionable statement.

Chunky jewelry

Jewelry always adds the perfect finish to an outfit. Whether it’s a dainty watch or some pearl earrings, they make the outfit shine.

Chunky jewelry has started to make its way back into the fashion world through rings, necklaces and bracelets.

I’ve seen lots of stacked bangles to watch rings, adding a new style to someone’s average everyday jewelry. Personally, I am a gold girl, and this summer, I found the perfect watch ring to add to my everyday wardrobe.

One style I’ve recently noticed edging its way back into the trends is the layering of necklaces, specifically longer necklaces. Longer necklaces can attract more attention to the top of the body and create a beautiful layering effect.

Jewelry can never go out of style, and its trends are always changing. Whether you like silver or gold, adding a couple of chunky pieces of jewelry to your fit can go a long way.

Lace

From cheeky to classic, lace has all kinds of shapes and forms in the fashion world. Whether it’s a lace tank top or undershirt, it makes a delicate statement.

Lace has been a common garment material in recent years. I’ve noticed it on skirts, layering tops, tank tops and dresses. It can be used for a bar top or a classy look.

One of my favorite ways I’ve recently seen lace is in long-sleeve tops. I’ve seen some used as a layering top where another clothing item is worn over it, but I’ve also seen simple lace tops. I recently found my new favorite lace top that is flowy, fun and makes my outfit dressier.

I think lace is a perfect fall trend and can see it expanding in its uses throughout the season.

Knee-High boots

Every fall, the knee-high boots take over. They can be paired with a skirt or dress and elevate any look to a whole new level.

Boots always come in and take over fall. There are booties, combat boots, leather boots and so much more. My favorite is always the knee-high boots, and I bring them out every year.

This year specifically, you may have heard of the brand The Frye Company. Their Campus 14L boots have taken over the internet. I think they’re cute, but I could not pay that much for a pair of boots.

There are many dupes of the Frye boots that I think are valid to get instead. You can shop trends while staying affordable.

This fall, I’m obsessed with the dark brown shades, and I need a pair of leather boots in the perfect dark shade. Boots are a classic fall staple, and I don’t ever see them leaving the season.

Polka dots

Yes, I know, polka dots are everywhere, it’s a polka dot apocalypse! But they are here for another season.

Polka dots started to take over at the end of the summer. Coming back to campus, I’ve seen them more than ever.

There are all kinds of color combinations with polka dots, which I think makes it more fun. Sitting in class, I could probably count at least five people who have polka dots on their nails, including myself.

I like polka dots, and I think it’s a simple pattern people can use to mix up their everyday look. However, I could see them going too far and taking over.

Fall is my favorite season. I love dressing in warm clothing and the colors of fall. There are so many different fashion trends to choose from this season, I had to limit myself. What do you think will take over this fall’s fashion?
